Child Protection Telephone Intake Worker
Full-time; 12 month contract
Salary: $69,000 - $100,000 based on experience

About the Role
We are seeking a Child Protection Telephone Intake Worker who will take phone calls and meeting with clients attending the office in person who report concerns about children’s safety and wellbeing. The worker will conduct case related searches and determine the disposition for the referrals. This role will also require the worker to carry Community Link Service cases by connecting families to appropriate services within the agency and outside of JF&CS. On occasion, pending service volumes, the incumbent may also be required to carry investigation cases.
Key Responsibilities:

Complete initial information gathering and assessment of in-person telephone referrals regarding child welfare concerns

Complete initial and comprehensive searches and compile information regarding the child and family that focus of the allegation.

Screen for the presence of domestic violence, human trafficking during the initial assessment and gathering of referral information

Disposition each case within the timeline dictation by the Child Protection Standards

Follow up with the family and the referral community agency/resource where appropriate.

Maintain an understanding and adheres to all legislation, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of the Ministry and JF&CS.

Required to participate on the emergency after hours team rotation.

Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:

MSW or BSW or equivalent Human Services Degree
-
3 or more years related experience in Child Welfare case management.

Authorized under the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS)
-
Knowledge and/or expertise in child protection investigative processes, community resources, clinical assessment, trauma informed – strength based practice
-
Experience with Child Protection Information Network (CPIN) database system, considered an asset.

Working knowledge of the CYFSA, as well as, the Child Protection Standards in Ontario, Ontario Child Welfare Eligibility Spectrum and Ontario Child Protection Tools Manual.

Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is required

Comprehension of French or another language will be considered an asset.
